Mole on face

How to Get Rid of Skin Moles

When a mole appears on your face, you are not happy. Some rare moles with right placement can become beauty spots and you may let them be there, but most moles are aesthetic constraints. On the other hand most of the moles are generally harmless extra growth on the skin.

It is important to first rule out the possibility of a mole being malignant before trying to remove it. Perhaps one in million may turn out to be malignant, then it has to be handled by the doctors. Otherwise, you can try to get rid of moles on your face at home.

If your mole is not changing, shape, size or color over a long period of time, then it is most likely a harmless mole. Melanin which adds color to the skin lives in cells called melanocytes. When these cells overgrow they form moles also known as melanocytes nevi.

The color of the moles can range from the same skin tones to different darkened shades of brown and black.

Sun exposure, genetics and hormonal changes can affect the numbers on the skin. Usually they appear between the age of 20-35 and can stay in their original shape and size forever until you get rid of them.

The moles can be flat, round and raised.

Following home remedies can help remove the moles on your face. Most of these

1. Garlic for Moles

Garlic stands on top the list of remedies for moles. Garlic helps to lighten the pigmentation of the skin, as well as the enzymes in garlic have the capabilities to break down the cluster of melanocytes cells which are responsible for the formation of moles.

  • Crush a clove of garlic and make a paste
  • Apply the paste 3-4 times a day on the mole.

Another application which works faster is putting the paste on the mole and apply a bandage. This continuous exposure to sulfur in garlic can be harsh on some skin, therefore do not try on the facial moles, if you believe your skin is sensitive. If you have mole anywhere else in the body, then use this method there first. Once you are happy with the results then try it on the face.

2. Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is available over the counter. In most cases this acid will dissolve the mole. Out of all the remedies given here, this is the most powerful and tested remedy for mole removal. It easily removes the smaller moles within a week to ten days.

Since salicylic acid dissolves the skin, it is important that it doesn't affect the skin. It should just be applied on the moles.

  • Take a small piece of medicated bandage tape (1 inch by 1 inch should be sufficient).
  • Cut a small hole in the middle and then from one side make a cut reaching the hole.
  • Stick the tape around the mole in such a way that the mole sticks out of the hole in the tape.
  • Take salicylic acid in a cotton swab and apply on the mole.
  • Repeat it twice a day for 7-10 days.

3. Flaxseed/Linseed oil

Flaxseed oil also known as linseed oil is a great skin softener. It softens the mole and loosen it, so that over a prolonged use of the oil the mole breaks down and fall off the skin. Used it with honey to apply on the moles works better.

4. Fruit Juices

Various fruit and vegetable juices have mild acidic nature and possess astringent capabilities. these aspects can help in breaking down the cells in the moles from prolonged use. Onion , lemon, apple and pineapple juices in specific are very useful. it may take weeks or even months of use before seeing the result.

  • Apply one of the juices 3-4 times a day
  • Wash it every time after 30-40 minutes of application.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar has both acidic and astringent capabilities. You can apply it in the same way as the above fruit and vegetable juices.

Most of the above remedies are slow and long term use will only decide whether it works in individual case or not. In many cases such moles can be surgically removed without leaving any scar. Consider that option also, if you want to remove your mole on the face.
