1. Salt Water Gargle

The pain of gum disease can be immediately controlled by practicing salt water gargle. Add a teaspoon of common salt in a glass of warm water. Stir it well for the salt to completely get dissolved in water. Take a small sip and gargle for 30-60 seconds. Spit out the water and repeat the cycle again. Repeat these cycles for 15 minutes for best results.

2. Coconut Oil Pulling

Coconut oil pulling to treat gum disease is a very old practice and is based on scientific principles. Most dental conditions including plaque, microorganisms, bad breath and gingivitis can be completely cured if coconut oil pulling is done right and regularly.

Most microorganisms in the mouth are single cell covered with fatty membrane. When these single cells get in contact with oil, they begin to naturally adhere to each other as both are fats.

Thus the oil absorb the microorganism from the gum and clean it. Coconut oil also contains lauric acid which is an antimicrobial agent. Therefore, oil pulling will treat your gum disease.

Take a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil in your mouth. Make sure that the oil doesn't go down your throat under any circumstances. Now close your mouth and start squishing the oil inside your mouth.

Do it for 20 minutes before spitting the oil out. After that wash mouth with normal drinking water.

Squishing the oil for 20 minute is the toughest part for beginners. it will hurt your jaws and cheeks as the muscles around these areas are working continuously for 20 minutes for the first time.

Oil pulling is not only the best home remedy for gum disease but it also will improve your facial skin and jaws in the long run. Go for it even if you don't yet have any gum disease or any other dental problem.

3. Garlic and Turmeric Paste

Both garlic and turmeric have antibacterial and fungal properties. Pack a paste of garlic juice and turmeric powder and use it as toothpaste instead of your regular toothpaste. Turmeric also provide anti-inflammatory capabilities as a result your will feel pain relief as well.

4. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea will reduce the pain and inflammation caused by gum disease. Add 5-6 chamomile flowers in the hot water and steep it for 10-15 minutes. Strain cool and sip the tea slowly. Make it a regular habit until your gum disease is cured. Of course you will be required to maintain overall oral hygiene as mentioned above.

5. Cranberry Juice

Low consumption of Vitamin C is also one of the causes of developing gum disease, therefore drink 2-3 tablespoons of fresh cranberry juice daily. You can add it into a glass of water to drink it or drink straight undiluted. Eat other vitamin rich fruits and vegetables.

If none of these remedies are effective in your case of gum disease then perhaps your gingivitis requires medical attention. Meet a periodontist immediately.
